What is nail psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that causes your body to overproduce skin cells.

About half of all people with psoriasis also develop it on their nails. Symptoms

The signs of nail psoriasis are visible in toenails and fingernails. Classic symptoms include pitting of the nails (causing an appearance like the surface of a thimble), discolouration and changes in the shape or thickness of nails. There can also be horizontal lines across the nail or the nail may begin to crumble because its underlying structure weakens. ^10B,C,D

The appearance and severity of nail psoriasis can vary considerably from person to person and the condition has a tendency to come and go. Some people suffer frequent flare-ups that make life difficult, while others can go several years between outbreaks.
