BETADINE™ EMTRIX™ is currently available behind the OTC counter at selected Clicks stores and leading independent pharmacies nationwide.

Apply BETADINE™ EMTRIX™ once a day to your affected nail; it is a good idea to make the treatment a routine before turning in at night, pressing lightly on the tube. It is important that the solution is also applied under the free edge of any affected nail. After application, the nail should be allowed to dry for a few minutes. ^{1A, 8D}

A daily application of BETADINE™ EMTRIX™ can result in healthier looking nails after only one week, but the total length of the treatment period should be determined by the extent of the nail’s discolouration or the severity of damage.^{1A, 9B} Typically, at least three to six months’ treatment is required to achieve a significant improvement and for the best result the treatment should be continued until a healthy nail has grown out. For fingernails, this can take up to six months and for toenails, up to 12 months. ^{1A, 7F}

Nail varnish should not be used during treatment as it prevents the absorption of BETADINE™ EMTRIX™ and inhibits the sought after effects. ^1A

In light of there being limited experience of BETADINE™ EMTRIX™ use on children and the fact that no child studies have been conducted to date, we recommend first consulting your doctor. ^1A

As BETADINE™ EMTRIX™ is a topical solution that works locally it can be used while pregnant or breastfeeding. ^{1A, 8}

In general, a tube of BETADINE™ EMTRIX™ will last for three months when treating three nails.
