What is the difference between BETADINE® First Aid Cream and the Antiseptic Ointment?

Both BETADINE® First Aid Cream and the Antiseptic Ointment have povidone-iodine as the active ingredient. They also help in fostering an environment that aids in wound healing while preventing the wound from getting infected. The key difference is the concentration of the povidone-iodine, which helps in knowing when to use the 2 products as explained hereafter.

BETADINE® First Aid Cream contains 5% povidone-iodine – this makes it more suitable to treat minor cuts, grazes, burns and skin infections, even on children under the age of 2 years. Apply as much of the cream as you need and put a plaster on the wound thereafter. Care should be taken as use on premature infants is not suitable.24

BETADINE® Antiseptic Ointment contains 10% povidone-iodine – this ointment is more suitable for your deeper cuts, grazes or burns. Apply the Antiseptic Ointment as a dressing on the wound and cover the wound.21

With BETADINE® Wound Care you can treat wounds effectively, however note that should you not be certain what type of wound you are dealing with, consult a health professional or doctor immediately.
