Healthy skin vs dry skin – why care matters
Dry skin can cause more cracks to form on the skin’s external layer. Besides adversely affecting the skin’s appearance and texture, dry skin produces uncomfortable sensations ranging from itchiness to redness and pain.55 On top of this, dry skin is less able to shield the body from irritants, allergens and germs that can harm it.56
Healthy skin, on the other hand, is well moisturized. This gives it suppleness, smooth and soft appearance. At the same time, it causes the skin’s outer layer to be tightly packed together, which forms a protective coat that helps to prevent unhealthy substances and germs from penetrating the skin.56
It is thus important to use skin cleaners with skin-friendly formulations that can remove dirt and germs while maintaining the skin’s natural pH level and moisture balance at the same time.
